If whatsoever dog is properly socialized with other animals such every bit dogs, cats, horses, ect. they can live well with those animals. However, if a canis familiaris of certain bones traits has not been well socialized or trained may be inherently harder to get them to get forth with smaller animals. Since the Catahoula has a high prey bulldoze, if they take not been well socialized with cats from an early age, the potential for them to want to hunt them is much higher than a breed that doesn't have a high prey bulldoze, such as a French Bulldog. I believe some people are just trying to help and talking about the footing of the brood, non trying to say that the brood can never be around cats or other animals.

The Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog is its own separate breed of dog. If yous did a DNA test that had the LCLD brood in their data base, then he would come with that breed. If there is a potential that he is a mixed breed, and so y'all would of grade learn what breed(s) he is as well mixed with. On Jan i, 1995, the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog was recognized by the United Kennel Club (UKC) and in 1996, the American Kennel Gild (AKC) added the Catahoula Leopard Domestic dog into their Foundation Stock Service (FFS).

All dogs eyes modify color. At nascency the puppy will take blue eyes and slowly over the course of several months, they volition change to their adult color. Normally by the fourth dimension the canis familiaris is 16 weeks ( iv months old ), the puppy has their permanent eye color.

The standard for the Catahoula Leopard Domestic dog is that the ears are e'er floppy. However, your dog could be a mix and have a breed with standard erect ears in her linage. Every bit long as she fits with your family, and you love her, love all of her; including her cock ears.

If the Catahoula Leopard Dog is socialized to pocket-sized children when a puppy, so the dog should be fine with them as an adult. However, they are a large sized dog and tin can sometimes be also rambunctious for pocket-sized children if not properly socialized.

I have immature grand children that stand up eye to eye with my Catahoula. He adores them, but I practice have to brand sure he stays calm with them since his high energy desire to play could cause the children to be unintentionally knocked downwardly or stepped on. He is a young canis familiaris, just turned one, but he has learned to be more gentle with the children. He doesn't pull them down now with tug of state of war. Our Catahoula is very smart and quickly learns. He besides tries to exist gentle when he plays with me. My grown son is a different story. He plays rough with my son and they both love it.

I have watched my Catahoula mix (Dachshund and Lab) play with my nephews and he changes his "eagerness" in chasing them based on their age/speed. He also laid down on the floor during beliefs grooming so a little teacup terrier (or something) could nip at his ears and lips and crawl around on him. This is my second Catahoula - the first came from Louisiana dumped off in a shelter - I am guessing she was the runt (she too went deaf, but her sniffer never failed! The second came xiv years after from a shelter in of all places, Iowa. They are so like. I don't know that I'd ever want another type of dog.

My Catahoula loves the kids, only can exist a bit skittish near his tail or feet being pulled on. He has never bit, but has growled. Also, he is very enthusiastic and tends to get carried away when jumping around. He is very gentle otherwise and will let any kid pet him. Nicely.

My Catahoula is the best dog I have always known. Her favorite thing to exercise is lay effectually and snuggle. She just wants to exist outside if we are with her. She is great with kids. She is good with our cats. She is fiercely protective of her people though. We no longer let our kids walk her because she is so strong (85 pounds of muscle) so protective we don't desire her attacking another dog who she might experience is besides shut to her kids.
